iWhisper hit the iPhone AppStore last monday! I’m really proud of the result of one summer of hard labour. It was fun, despite the nice weather and the cool holidays my friends went on :-)
iWhisper is a GPS based audio tour app which plays sounds depending on your location. Which is pretty neat. For example, it will play a story about a statue you stand next to, or play a story which takes place in medieval times on the same square you’re standing on.
Stories can have sounds that you hear if you’re not on the right spot yet. We use the built-in compass of your phone to give those sounds a more spatial feeling. So you can hear in which direction the sounds come from and walk towards it so you end up in the correct location and the story starts playing!
The idea of this app came from Monobanda, a small innovative game company from my hometown, Utrecht, The Netherlands. I had the luck that they chose me to help them make their ideas reality!
The app is now focused on the city of Utrecht. The coming months more guides are recorded and hopefully the app will be expanded to other cities (or countries?) next year!
